Technology from Munich – for the companies that keep our economy running

For as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated by technology in all its forms and facets: airplanes, cars, spaceflight, cable cars, construction vehicles — the list could go on forever. Behind many of these technical marvels are the Mittelstand, hidden champions, and international corporations from Germany and Europe.

Yet these very companies are under massive pressure today: competitors are pushing into established markets with aggressive pricing, the economy has been weak for years, and margins in the new-machine business are eroding. Many companies can feel it: their business model no longer carries them.

The service business is the best way out of the crisis — high-margin, crisis-proof, and close to the customer. Helping these companies build a new pillar of sustainable revenue with a strong service business is what makes me get up with a smile every day.
